High-Performance Carbon Fiber SMC.
Mass Production of Structural Composites.
CF-SMC (Carbon Fiber Sheet Molding Compound) is a revolutionary material that combines the high specific strength of carbon fiber with the mass-production capabilities of traditional SMC. It consists of chopped carbon fibers (typically 25-50mm long) randomly distributed in a thermoset resin matrix.
At SUASE MOULD, we engineer tools specifically for CF-SMC to enable the rapid production of complex, 3D-shaped structural parts. This technology bridges the gap between expensive, slow autoclave processes and lower-performance glass fiber SMC, making carbon fiber accessible for serial automotive production.
"Unlike woven carbon fabrics, the random orientation of chopped fibers in CF-SMC provides isotropic mechanical properties—equal strength in all directions within the plane."
Unlocking new possibilities for lightweight design.
Capable of molding ribs, bosses, and varying wall thicknesses in a single shot, which is difficult with continuous fiber sheets.
Offers a density of ~1.5 g/cm³, significantly lighter than aluminum (2.7 g/cm³) while maintaining high stiffness.
Compression molding cycles of 3-5 minutes make high-volume production (10,000+ parts/year) economically viable.
Near-net-shape molding reduces waste compared to machining, and offcuts can often be repurposed.

CF-SMC requires precise temperature control during curing. Our molds feature optimized heating channels to ensure uniform resin flow and minimize internal stress.
Designed to withstand molding pressures of 80-120 bar, ensuring full consolidation of the carbon fibers and void-free parts.
Expert polishing and coating options to achieve high-quality surface finishes, ready for clear coating or painting (Class-A potential).
Where strength meets mass production.
Window frames, seat structures, and inner tailgates. Replacing metal with CF-SMC reduces weight by up to 50%.
Engine covers and oil pans. Excellent heat resistance and chemical stability in harsh environments.
Control arms and suspension links. High stiffness and fatigue resistance for critical load-bearing parts.
